Oday 32 Lake Guntersville
Over the weekend, we had the misfortune of breaking our O'day 32 centerboard cable someplace below the spool. I had the 32 out for a bottom job about two years ago and it looked OK then, according to the boat yard. I've owned her for five years and have not replaced the cable. The weak spot must have been out of sight.

Now, how do I fix it? I can work underwater, if that it is possable to fix it underwater. Do I have to pull the boat? Where and how is it attached to the c'board? About how long should the new cable be? Any other words of wisdom be for I start this job next weekend?

OK here's the story.......It probably broke right above the crimp cause it rubs on the fiberglass tube while the board is up and the board has some side to side movement in the keel trunk while sailing.....now the tough part, you have to get a line and another person and tie a weight onto the line and start at the bow and walk towards the aft of the boat up to the winches and you should have captured the keel so you can use the winches to raise it then you can have it hauled cause thats the only way to fix this and after its up in the straps you'll need a snake to send UP the little hole thats in the keel trunk sending it up the tube and pulling the new cable either up cause it will have a eye crimped onto it......youll need to put a crimp or a bolt on clamp at the winch end to keep it captured on the reel

BTW if you can get the boat to the boat lift in deep water all the way then you could skip trying to raise it (I wouldn't)
