I just purchased a 1983 Hunter 31 in Fl; it has some slight Hurricane damage, i.e. broken bracket (strut) that hold the drive shaft and a few other things. Dose anyone have any suggestions to fixing the bracket (strut), I have not seen the problem in person so it may be an easy fix but then again… I have been wrong before. I am driving down to FL from MN in two days to work on the boat and thought I would see if any one had seen or possibly had this problem before. Any advice would be greatly helpful. Thanks.

my suggestion

is to replace it and not even try to fix it, Hunter (factory) should be able to tell you where to buy one if they can't supppy it. It will also make it a quicker job as you can remove and replace it same day, however I would suggest that you have the shaft checked to be sure it is straight and not bent,it would also be a good time to repack the stuffing box or replace it with a pss type shaft seal. All in all not a big job but will be time consuming. Good Luck !

Dripless packing?

Has anyone had experence with the dripless packings? On my previous Hunter 28.5 the packing tended to drip quite a bit. Thanks

weld / braze

Take the two broken parts to a welding shop and have them welded or brazed
