Broken Batten repairable?

Is there any respectable way to repair a 12' 8" fiberglass batten that snapped in the middle? I was thinking glass/epoxy but I'm not sure of how badly that would affect the flexibility.

Any hints out there ... or should I just relegate it as a backup to my shorter battens??

How much do these battens cost?

If it a matter of having the pocket refabricated to accept a smaller batten it will be less expensive to replace it.

No, not repairable. Save it as a spare.

Also, to used it as a spare for a shorter batten depends on the stiffness of the other battens; it generally varies from top to bottom.

I added some carbon to battens specifically to change the set of a sail. To repair a batten properly requires a complex repair and simply isn't worth it..

Not to hijack this thread; but, why do vertical battens have to extend the hole vertical height of the sail? Couldn't the batten pockets only extend for about a few feet from the leach? Has any sailmaker tried this?
I am thinking of asking my sailmaker to redo my vertical batten pocket so that they are only a few feet short of the leach. would this create a crease in the sail? Any comments?

I don't think there would be enough support for the leech. There's probably a reason why sailmakers have to make verticals that long. Perhaps your sailmaker would have the answer.
