This past fall when I was prepairing for winter storage I noticed my alternator ajusting bolt which goes into the exhust manifold on my Universal Diesel Model 5424 was broken off flush with the manifold. Last week I drilled though the engine compartment wall and was able to get a extractor inserted. Unfortuniately the bolt is frozen and now the extractor has broken off. A friend told me there is a Mod Kit to replace that bracket assembly and was woundering if anyone know about this?

Broken Alternator Arm
CZ Had the same problem a few years back on my Catalina 30. This is a known problem and the mod kit provides a new bracket arm and a different way to mount the bracket. As I recall I did not have to drillout the broken stud. If I remember correctly I got the kit from Torrenson Marine. See Link below. It took about a day to install the kit with the biggest problem being venting the the air from the antifreeze because you do have to rerun the cooling hoses. No special tools required. Not a bad job at all. Marc
