I am purchasing a 1976 Hunter 25. I would appreciate any information on the older Hunter 25's. Also any recommended upgrades. Water System, Electrical, etc.

1978 Hunter 25

I have a 1978 Hunter 25 and found literature scarce. What I did find was not helpful. This site is extremely helpful. I was able to get more information by talking with other sailors in the dock and sharing some experiences. Each year I add an extra feature to the boat, like marine radio for Lake Superior (absolutely required), ship to shore power, circuit breakers, new wiring where required, bilge pump, replacement grey water drains, etc.

I can help!

Don, I have the factory manual (zerox copy provided by Hunter) which I can zerox and send to you. It is comprehensive and helpful. Will send you a copy if you can provide me with your address. Also can provide you with a list of upgrades/mods which I have accomplished. Some of these include: running of halyards back to cockpit; adding a winch to the cabin roof for use with the halyards; changing the main sheet traveler which was positioned with stops to a traveler position controled with lines/pulleys; cutting a hole in the fuel tank ledge of the aft lazaret to facilitate getting at both the outboard bracket bolts (had to replace bracket) and cockpit drain hoze which also had to be replaced; adding a third separate halyard for spinnaker; added a permanently mounted gusher bilge pump. Electronics include: VHF; GPS; Loran-C; knot meter; depth finder; wind speed/temp gauge. Enjoy your 25, they are great pocket cruisers and surprisingly hold their own in local races. Also check the owners comments on this web site for sailing commentary as well as changes, etc.

H25 manual request

John, I'd like a copy of your manual as well; I'd prefer not to post my address in the forum. Is there an E-address where I can send my request? Or, would you prefer to fax it? I have an (877) number you could use for that. Thank you, --Jon Bastien H25 'Adagio' H23 '2 Sheets to the Wind' jonbastien@yahoo.com
