HI, all. I'm trying to understand just how to set me Main/Genoa for Broad Reaching. I'm talking about when sailing from 100 degrees to 170 degrees off the wind. I think I have it down right..you tell me: Genny set so the telltales are streaming back, and the Main is eased (vang tight) to where the boom end is just forward of to aft corner of the boat. The Main telltales are also streaming. (Does that make sense??) Thanks!

28.5 Reaching

Sounds like you've got it set up pretty well if all teltales are streaming. The 28.5 will not sail as well directly down wind, but you will find that you can let out the main untill it's laying on the spreaders, then sheet it back slightly or tighten the vang. If you have a set of snatch blocks, you should find the best spot for sheeting the genoa out to the toe rail instead of the on deck track to keep the slot open. In light air sit on the leward side, move crew weight to the leward rail to heel the boat and enjoy the ride.
