They are considering changing the name from HMS Astute to HNS Astute ("Not So"). Or, maybe "HMS Somewhat Less Astute", or "HMS Marginally Astute"...

She's not the first sub to run aground off the coast of Scotland. For example, a number of German U-Boats ran aground there in both WW1 and WW2.

As Bill commented, guess that it why they call them sea trials.

If it could only get to the open sea....... and it looks like they forgot at least one sensor......

Due to the economy and budget cutbacks..the usual high tec nav gear wasn't installed...they were using a TomTom instead.
