Has anyone tried Bristol Finish for teak, e.g. hatch boards and interior wood like the cabin sole? Marketing literature indicates it lasts a couple of years before needing to apply a top coat.

Uh maybe my medication needs adjustment?

Finish the teak and holly sole? Any finish you put on it will may it slippery. The expensive teak and holly sole was installed because it is the best no slip boating surface available. Even an oil finish reduces the grip of this surface slightly. Inside a boat I find that an oil finish is easiest to maintain. If you varnish it will chip in high wear areas. You could varnish some surfaces and oil the high wear areas and the sole. But don't finish the sole or else you'll hurt some one as soon as is gets windy and wet.

Windy and wet in the cabin?

Yes Frank, perhaps you should up the dosage. Unless it really is windy and wet in your cabin?! :) Many folks finish the interior teak as well as the sole of the cabin (not talking cockpit or decking here) I've used oil and it looks good for a short while, satin varnish looks great for quite a while (like years). Gloss varnish.....a little to shiny for me.. at least for the sole, but each to his own. Chipping? I'm talking the same stuff I use on the floors in my home that see much, much, much more traffic and by people with shoes...which I don't allow on my boat. If I'm not mistaken, the new Hunters have some sort of finish on them??? Don B.

Boats do get wet inside...

A hatch left open when it rained unexpectedly or a big wake crashed over the bow...dripping foulies...spray...dripping swimsuits...and then there was the time I turned the hose on the side of boat without realizing a port was open. :)
