I'll be visiting my sister and her family, in Ocean Springs, the week after X-mas. They are not sailors and I'd like to get them out to see another part (or should I say best part) of where they live. Can anyone recommend a place to charter a sailboat for a day? Or If someone's looking for crew and an excuse to get out on the water. We're flexible. I'd just like to try to get us out sailing. After all, my boat has been on the hard since mid- October!

Come and meet some of the gulf coast sailors on Dec.29th. We are having a get together that evening, in Fairhope, Als. which is over on the east side of Mobile Bay. Not far from Biloxi. Scroll through the postings for the past few days and you will find all the info. posted. Depending on the weather there will more than likely be some boats there, and you will certainly be made welcome. If I have the time to get there by boat from New Orleans, I will have my boat there, and you will certainly be more than welcome to sail with me.

That's what I love about this site. Here is a sailor that want's to show his family that there is life beyond the beach. He was looking for a charter and look what he gets. Two offers for a sail. I wish I could make it to the 1st annual Gulf Sailors get together but unfortunately I have to be elswhere. I hope there is one next year and I will be there. Fair winds to all.

I live in Ocean Springs. The coastal marinas and municipal small craft harbors are still not active. There is a North Star Sailing charter, we have the Biloxi Schooners and we have locals. Not much else commercial other than fishing, or much in the way of sailing charter. Unlike Dick, I'm working that week but after the 29th get together at the Fly Creek, I have a few days. Maybe I can catch up with you then or just sail along when the CD Express hits the waves. Keep it on the boards... Sail on...
