Hi gang,
I finally got on the boat today to begin the list. I got some pics of where I was crawling to get to the bilge pump thru-hull in the aft of the quarter berth. I was going to remove the hose to add a vent loop to prevent the siphoning I had last summer when I got the idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DPKf7y1F-Q
There is another end to this hose. I also saw the cable from the wheel steering was loose. How tight should it be?

PS There was no room to tip a Guinness in there and only two skinned knuckles while twisting my arm behind my back.

From the Edson site:

To check for proper wire tension, lock the wheel in position by using the pedestal
brake, or by tying off the wheel. Cable tension is best when you
cannot move the quadrant or drive wheel by hand with the wheel​

locked in place.

Thats what I needed, thank you. BTW the bottom of the Edson unit is right where the top of my head wants to be.

While reading the maintenance page there was a note to annually oil the sheaves and cable, seriously. While in this tight spot armed with oil and paper towels everything got a liberal dose. I took up three turns on the steering cable, which explained the slow response to turning issue, and found a 1/2 inch nut missing from the steering mounting base. It must have been missing for a while because it wasn't inside the cover. Other than my smelling like oil for a while, it was a good project. Thanks again for the info.

No problem. I learned about the steering mechanics the hard way after losing a cable on the maiden voyage (and delivery) of my C30 in 8 ft seas in complete darkness while my crew was on the cabintop securing the main. That was a joy!
