Very interesting bit of information, but have to wonder what else it will keep off. How bout grass, scum, and most of all the damn zebra mussels. If it only effects barnacles, will not be a cure all for most of us. But at least it is encouraging news, and at some point there will hopefully be something better than what we got.

I can only hope the new technology will make
today's bottom paint obsolete. Maybe then it wouldn't cost so dang much!!
Phil, it sounds like it'll work with other crustaceans too. Funny how, in the end, mother nature has all the answers... (just like my mother!)..

This is a bio-sourced bio-toxin, I am sure that a lot of eco-centric folks will be very excited to stop its' use pending many years of study. My Grandchildren will be restoring my boat for the umpteenth time long before the EPA approves anything this promising. oooops, my cynicism slipped. I still want to use the same stuff that the USN uses.
Stuff sounds too good to be true...probably doesn't last enough time to last a season though. There will be some catch to it, no doubt.
