i am going to install a st60 depth meter this year. what i discovered from the forum is that i dont need to mount the transducer through the hull but mount on the fiberglass with caulk. my question is, i have both the brass and plastic transducers (dont ask, ebay addict) which will, if either, will work better through the fiberglass. regards, mike "sound the alarm"

Try both....

get some toilet wax (the wax ring, about 98 cents) take a small amount of wax and make sure there is NO AIR BUBBLES in it, and just press each transducer to the wax and to the hull. Make sure the "transducer beam" is at the right angle, and just do a test. I did this before I mounted it with silicone (blue) and it worked fine. You can see what works best before mounting it permantely. But with silicone, you can always remove it. Mine is a Lowrance transducer (FishFinder 2) and it has been on my Hunter 25.5 for two years now...Works GREAT..Good luck. Go to the picture/project forum in HOW and search for fish finder (fishfinder 2) and see my pictures.

question Dave

was that a transome mount transducer for the fishfinder? Most fishfinders I see come with transom mount. Thanks
