Hello all. Just joined and I'm buying an '83 Hunter 27. Got a good deal from a friend who's moving up to a Hunter 34. Anyway, the hull is straight up and down at the bow, but all the pictures I've seen of 83s and older models have hulls angled back toward the stern (please pardon my lack of nomenclature). Now the new ones have straight, up and down hulls at the bow going back to the 90s. I can't imagine my friend got the year wrong by 10 or more years, so I'm confused. Were there different hull shapes available in 83 or around that time period? Thank you for any insight you can give me on this.

Gary - click on Boat Info in this forum and then click on Hunter Boat Info. There you will find the various models and years made. You should be able to pick your boat out those shown. An alternative is to ask the previous owner as he may have been excited about his new purchase and misspoke the year of his H27.

As far as I know only one hull design was used for the h27 between 1975 and 1984. If you have any doubts about the boat's year model go to the hull number which should be stamped on the transom. The number will read something like this "HUN_ _ _ _ _ _83_". The last three digits will denote the year and month the boat was manufactured. There is always the possibility that the hull may have been modified by a PO but I doubt it. Let us know what results from your findings.

Another two hints should be the 1) year of make on the title and 2) the price. The 1983 boats are selling for around $7,000 and the 1993 for around $12,000.
