I estimated about 1 bag(100) of bungs to complete my interior installation. Well we ran our of that bag in the V berth. I bought 4 more bags last night and we just opened the the 4th(5th total) bag. The first mate pounds them in and I come behind with my Fein Multimaster and a wood cutting blade to cut the heads off. This works just like a japanese saw but much faster. I then sand with 120, then 240 and they are flush and ready for varnish. Thank God the interior is almost complete again. Taking a break right now but will get back to the bungs and masking soon. Photos to follow later. Maine sail, we stopped by the boat after dinner last night and saw your new portlights. Very nice!

That's a lot of bungs. If you had cut your own

it would have used about 3 board feet of lumber.

I would have but

Cutting your own takes time and the bungs are not chamfered on one end like the ones I bought for $5.99 a bag. I do have a cutter and a drill press but I really would rather pay someone than to spend the time cutting almost 500 bungs. If it was 20, then I would cut my own.

I like the use of the Fein Multimaster for cutting the bungs

flush. I have a Fein detail sander do you think it will hold the other tools?

Tim..

I'm still drooling over that Fein... I can think of a million projects for one. Having just laid out almost 5k this winter alone (new interior cushions and NFM portlights were the big ones) I'll be holding off on the Fein for a while. Sorry I missed your call last night but we were up at my brothers house with the kids. I would have been up for it though..

heave to... your hauler is coming tomorrow! The trailer has a nice fresh coat of paint... but the pads are going to scratch the cr*p out of your hull... besides the hydrolic oil will be flying!

Funny guy

Very funny Rich. That wasn't hydraulic oil from the trailer. It was tranny fluid leaking out through your packing gland;-) Sounds like you are in the water. Congrats. Next year I am hoping for an April splash. I think Mainesail is going in this week. BTW, did Steve mention anything about hauling my boat? He never returns my calls but John Brewer says we are on track.

I am sure you are all set! You will want to call Steve to check in. Call and leave a message or two. If you call around 7:30AM... he might be in. He is a great guy. I don't get hauled till the 28th of May... Boohoo
