Bow Thruster control power

anyone have a problem with side power bow thruster control panel and have a fix for it my control panel soft key for one side has just given up and am wondering whether a joystick replacement or some other type would be better? All suggestions are welcome.

Joy sticks work fine but can be a poor choice depending on mounting location. On most sailboats the thruster control is on the helm and a joystick there is easy to accidentally knock or get things caught on. Just my 2 cents.

When we were on a bareboat charter recently, the thruster had a pushbutton on/off switch (a flat kind, so you had to really try to push it) with a joystick right there at the helm. You had to push the on button twice to turn it on, so there was very little chance of accidental activation.

I should think that a double throw, center off, momentary switch would be what you need. And protect it with a lift off cover.
