I have a Hunter 31 hull #719, 1986. My bow lights went out and I tried to follow the wires from the bow. It went into the sanction and then out on the starboard side just before they disappear into the hull. From that point on, I'm not sure where they go. Has anyone chased these down and fixed a problem with their bow lights? Thanks in advance for your input(s). Night sailing is one of my favorites, and I need to get this fixed. Capt. Re-Wired Mind

I have a 1987 H-31 and had to re-wired mind this past season. The break in my wire was at the point where the wires went thourgh the deck. I took off the bow light, soldiered new wires to the old and pulled them thourgh. That took some time and a little liquid soap to get it thourgh the bends in the rail. In the V-berth starboard side slide your hand up between the hull and the anchor locker and you'll find the wires where they come thourgh the deck. That is where I made the splice from old to new. The old wires cross over and runs back to the electric panel on the port side where the deck meets the hull. Hopes this helps.

Between the deck and inside header!!!

They are not user servicable once they got through the deck. The good news is unless you pierced the hull they don't ever see any wear and tear. Do you have 12 V and a ground at the bow? If so I'd just splice as needed to get power to the light. It is most likely a bad connection right at the light socket.

I Checked the Light Socket

I pulled the bulb and checked to see if I had power to the prongs in the light. I didn't find any. I'm not really an electrical guy, but I'm sure I'm going to be one after this. I'm going out there on Monday to see if I can chase wires back to the cause of the short or break. Thanks for all your help so far...
