I have a 1988 Catalina 30, tall rig, wing keel. One of my bolts to the bow rail deck plate came loose. There are three in the plate. The bolt pulls right out. I am wondering if there was a nut on the other end. I can't see it from the cabin area or the anchor well. Does anyone know how these bolt are anchored down and how to replace a bolt to anchor down the plate to the bow rail? My problem is on the port side of the bow rail. Thanks.

If you have an inspection port in your anchor locker open it and you should be able to reach in and attach a new nut to the bolt. You should have a washer, a locking washer and a nut.

No inspection port near deck attachment

S. Hockey, Thanks for response. I have no inspection port in my anchor locker near this plate. I guess I have to cut one, right?

Access on an '86

Ron, Not sure about an '88 but on my '86 TR I can access the nuts from either the anchor locker or from the V-berth. In the anchor locker the nuts are hard to see/get to usless you stick your head in the locker while laying on your back. Tim
