Bow pulpit

I'm finally getting around to replacing the bow pulpit that was bent up by the FO. I've found a fabricater who can do the job, but would like a picture of a "good" pulpit taken at right angles to the bow so that he can get the correct angle of the center brace.

I'm going to have the new pulpit made without the walk-through.

If anybody has a picture, or if there are any engineering drawings of the pulpit floating around with radius, angles, etc could you let me know. Also, if anybody is interested in having a new pulpit made a group rate could reduce the price which now is estimated at $600.

Thanks,

Tom

Let me know - I am interested. If anyone has the engineering drawings could you please post them in the group files?

Many thanks

A couple of years ago the name stainlessoutfitters.com came up on the
Alberg 30 listserver. They are in Canada IIRC and I have no experience
with them. I expect they can tell you what fabrication and shipping would
cost.

Does anybody know of a collection of Vega parts, or an old Vega that might be scrapped for parts? I'm looking to replace my bow pulpit, but I'm not really keen on spending $1000's to get a new one built from scratch. Thanks for any suggestions - Sebastian (VegaLyra 1060)

If your not to particular many boat yards have old pulpits and such from scrapped boats. Lyric's pulpit is off of a Hallberg-Rassy. They might require some adaption but can usually be made to work. I do remember when I inquired about shipping a pulpit UPS wanted $300.00. Dimensions and not weight was the problem. If you do decide to ship to the states, I would recommend not getting a quote from UPS. In my experience using a company like Interparcel is a fraction of the cost even for larger items. It is still delivered by UPS or equivalent. In my work I send a lot of stuff abroad and dealing with the companies directly you get some ridiculous quotes.

Thanks all of you for your helpful hints. I'll see what I can come up with - the Albin Marin offering might be the nicest, but it is not in the same style as the one I have, so I'm unsure it will fit with my setup (roller furling etc.)- Sebastian
