I have a ran into a ploe at the fuel dock and bent my bow pulpit, so I need to replace it. On my older Erickson 26, I havent found any shops that can help. Does any one out there know where I may find a used bow pulpit from a 26 -28 Erickson of the 86-89 age. Please contact me (artuno4u@netscape.net). Thank you for letting me search your minds.

Not sure if they'll have a pulpit, but try

calling Minney's Surplus in Costa Mesa, lots of Ericson's around here. Bow pulpits are highly prone to damage and might be a scarce surplus item.

Repair

Dave, When we bought our boat it had a pulpet that was pushed off to one side like it had hit something hard enough to bend it. I did nothing for a year, then had it taken off and it went to a shop that specializes in pipe bending and welding of stainless steel. He cut out the most seriously bent piece and welded in a new piece of stainless so skillfully you can't see the weld unless you know where to look. He then trued up the rest of the pulpet and it was re-attached to the boat. Looks good as new and had to be cheaper than a new one.

I am with Tom on this one

The bow pulpit on our Tartan 27' got badly damaged during a bad blow and chafing incident. Ours was pretty badly damaged and we paid $750 + shipping for a new one from tartanparts.com that might work on your Ericson 26'. The trouble is that they dont seem to offer this size pulpit any longer although you could call them. If I had it to do all over again I would find a good marine welding shop and get a price quote from them. I cant imagine that it will cost as much as we paid. Ask around to find a marine welder in your area and get a quote from them. Your only other choice is to go with a replacement bow pulpit made by one of the production boatmakers that are still in business (Hunter, Catalina, Beneteaux etc). Good luck.

a thought

Some pulpits are basically stanchions with a bent piece of ss tubing running through fittings on the top of the stanchions. Could this be done on your Ericson?
