Bow light Wiring through pulpit leaking

Hunter did not install a fitting at the point where the Bow light wiring passes through the deck and into the pulpit. They only put some sealant around the wire so water follows the pulpit down into the base and then into the V-berth area. I am sure this is a common issue and am very interested in some of the corrections others have used. I am considering crearing a threaded fitting with wire sealed inside it and connectors in the pulpit area to allow removal of the pulpit without cutting the wires.

I would probably add new sealant, but your idea sounds very good. I guess production boat manufacturers figure a penny saved is a penny off the selling price.

Bow light wiring...

I just picked out the failed caulk and reapplied caulk all around the wire/deck passage, working the wire in and out then adding more caulk. Hasn't leaked since.
