The bow eye pulled out while pulling the boat onto the trailer. Any suggestions for repair? I have a 1986 Catalina 22.

well with out seeing the damage first hand i will try to give you some ideas.
1, if the eye just pulled out the nuts and you have 2 oversize holes get a larger size diameter bow eye and then make a wood block that looks like a v shape that will be your backing plate in side the hull. i would use oak or some other hard wood. to spread the load.
2, if you have a large chunk /hole where the bow eye was then you will need to grind out the damaged area and re glass then add a backing block .

Got it fixed. Went in thru the anchor compartment and cut a hole with a saw. Removed rotten wood and plastic, seems a poor original idea, and replaced with plastic wood along with big washers. Seems much sturdier now. Just need to patch the hole someday.
One could also make a backing plate out of metal such as aluminum.
I"d most certainly fix that hole in the Anchor locker. If the drain hole for that locker gets clogged, you could end up with a lot of water going into your cabin during rains. This water would probably be found in the V berth's foremost storage compartment first.
When you say patch the hole, I assume that you have the old style single bolt bow eye. If so it is highly recommended that it be replaced with the much sturdier U-Bolt bow eye that requires two holes, use the original hole and drill the second one either above or below it depending on where the bow eye will sit in reference to the trailer winch. Its better to pull up on the bow eye than down when the boat is fully on the trailer. I can promise you if you have the old style bow eye and don't replace it you will be in for a lot of misery and repairs.
Barry, It has a u-bolt so I am ok on that point. We need to move the winch so it is pulling up or level. Also need to patch the hole, the drain hole in the anchor locker was clogged from a mud dauber and is subject to the same later. Thanks for all the advice.

Make sure you are mostly floating the boat on the trailer, too. The shape of the hull and bunks aren't such that it can be loaded 'power boat style'.
