I want to start trailering my O'Day 25. It does not have a bow eye for pulling the boat out of the water onto a trailer. Has anyone installed a bow eye on their boat. How difficult is it to install, I don't want to mess up the hull! Also where is a good place place to purchase one? Thank you for any information.

Bo w Eye

Jason - It is not hard to intall a bow eye. The curvature of the bow makes it very strong so you can simply put in a big backing plate and you don't have to do a lot of glass work. Any supplier can get you an eye. When you start trailering you probably don't want to winch the boat up onto the trailer with the eye. Instead make sure the trailer is submerged deeply enough that you can float the boat out over it. Then attach the eye with the boat in posistion and pull the rig out. The line in the eye just tows the boat over the trailer until the trailer starts to come up under it. Justin - O'day Owners' Wev

Watch Ebay

If you watch Ebay, I'm sure one will come up. I've seen everything else come up on there and bought a lot of the things I'm using to revamp my 22 from there! I know I've seen bow eyes on there, but didn't see any when I just went and did a search. Give it a few days and look.
