I have the original lights on 1979 33 Lens are crumbling. How do I get them apart or off the rails.

Your original 1979 lights likely do not owe you anything. So perhaps it is time to replace with new. Is this on your Puffin 14? Or do you have a Hunter?
There is likely screws or maybe bolts holding the lights to the boat. If the heads are rusted out, then soft destruction my be in order. Even cheap lights have screws that attach it to the deck.
A picture might help... Some of the guys here might be able to figure it out but in 1979 they were just kids back then.

If the lens is already crumbling, then I would smash out the lens & look inside the see what you have for fasteners. If no screws are visible from the outside, machine screws may be from the inside of the boat, facing out. Alternately, there may be some sort of catch that you will see once the lens is gone. You may have a screwed down base plat with a snap-on outer housing. Pictures of the existing hardware may help someone here to help you identify what you have.
