No locker on our '77 h27
Lady Lillie has no anchor locker. The space is a cupboard at the forward end of the v-berth. I suppose it could be converted to an anchor locker, with glass work to protect (but still give access to) the bow lights, seal the door to the v-berth, put a floor on the locker, and then cut an opening in the deck, and make a door for the top, and a drain for the locker. Both our anchors and their rodes are in anchor bags, and stowed in the lazarette on the starboard side. I carry them forward and secure the bag on the bow before anchoring - sometimes before we set out, other times as we enter the anchorage. I tie the bitter end to the mast, then pass the anchor through the bow pulpit, and back on the the bow. Then I flake out the planned scope, and it is ready to go.When lugging the anchor forward becomes tedious, I will mount an anchor forward, and just carry the rode up to be ready to anchor. I haven't got a good, reliable quick attachment design yet to connect the rode to the anchor.Oh, yeah, our rode is line with 15 feet of chain.DavidLady Lillie
