Setting a retrieving the anchor is arduous at best on this model. Has anyone mounted a bow/anchor roller? The is cluttered and it looks to be a difficult proposition. I'm looking for ideas... pictures would be great!

Arthur -- On my h-33 1980 I mounted an anchor roller which I purchased from Garhauer. Have had it now 2 years and it works well. Price was 133.10. Model AR-35. (tel:909 985 9993). Had to remove the starboard chock and relocate the main cleat a bit to the rear. It frees up space in the anchor well. Call me if you want more info. Regards, Henry

I have a double roller, and found that it is not much easier to retrieve a set anchor then it was before. The angle is bad and I believe the stock rollers are just to short.I am thinking of a extension and moving my roller fuler at the same time.Make a tempary one and clamp it down and try it before buying one.Good luck

Many sailors have added an anchor roller to the 33. You can find these in the photo forum on this site. Here they are:http://www.sailboatowners.com/upload/display.tpl?folder=7322381528&fno=17http://www.sailboatowners.com/upload/display.tpl?folder=73185037642&fno=17http://www.sailboatowners.com/upload/display.tpl?folder=73127869840&fno=17The last is Terry Arnold's application. I have seen it when he passed this way a few years ago. It looks great.

My set up is identical to Akula's, but mine is on a 79 H33.**Question for Akula... Is there a windlass under there? And if so, where do you stash the rode?

Ernie, No windlass, just a pair of leather gloves. My ground tackle consists of a 22# Bruce, 50' of 3/8" chain, and 1/2" three-strand. I chose a 22# Bruce anchor to keep the weight down. The picture was made before I relocated the chocks aft with 1 1/2" stand-offs mounted on the toe-rail.Akula

Hi: I have a 1980 Hunter 36. I looked at the project/photo links posted by Paul F (thanks) with great interest since I will need soon to remove and re-bed all the bow hardware on my boat which are loose and leaking rain water. And I need to replace an aluminum backing plate underneath the deck that is turning to dust due to ss galvinization. The hardware mounting arrangement on the Cherubini H33 and the Cherubini H36 is different, but the basic construction of the deck at the bow on both look to be similar in nature. (i.e. the black fiberglass deck cap/insert at the bow.) My question is how does one get a socket wrench from underneath onto the deck-through mounting bolt nuts that are at the extreme tip of the bow? A previous owner of my boat added a second (larger than original stock) anchor roller that has two of the mounting bolts located just a couple of inches from the extreme bow tip. I have already removed the wooden bulkhead that separates the v-berth cushions from the forward section under the chain locker. I have tried to squeeze myself far enough into the area to reach up to the nuts. But most difficult. Anybody know a solution? thanks and regards, rardi
I posted this a few years ago, but it has worked out very, very well. Not only is anchoring easy, but I now have a great place to attach the spinnaker and get it out forward of the bow. Very pleased with the entire unit.
