I am looking into adding a anchor roller to my bow to free up some room in the very tight anchor locker for additional chain/rode.

Does anyone know the size/make of anchor roller that works best with the H240/H260 bow setup with the indented groove? I will be using it with the stock danforth style anchor that came with the boat.

I do not want to buy the roller and then have it be to wide for slot and to short to mount the anchor and keep the flukes from hitting the bow. I can take some measurements next time I am down at the boat, but was hoping some of you may know off of the top of your heads.

Appreciate any help,

Anchor Bow Roller

WTA,

Did you ever determine the best Anchor Bow Roller? I too am looking to add this to my Hunter 240. Any help and/or advice would be welcomed.

Thanks

I have a 260 with the Hunter stock bow roller. I don't think it is long enough or strong enough. If the anchor rode was run through the roller in a major blow I think it would bend. I was told by a Hunter dealer they are just supposed to be used to lower and raise the anchor, the rode should be tied off to the cleats without going through the roller. Others have told me they were told the same story from other boat manufacturers. Perhaps my idea of running the rode through the roller is not the proper way to do it ?

I have not been able to find anything off the shelf that will fit on my 260. I will probably make one out of s/s this spring. I think for a roller to hold the anchor (any anchor) it will be unsupported for such a long distance an additional brace or two will be needed under the roller to the front of the boat. One option I am looking at is to remove the bolt on the front chain plate and use a longer bolt so a support could be used from there to the front of a new roller.

I am now using a 14 lb Delta Quickset anchor (and am very pleased with it so far). It just barely fits in the anchor locker, I would like to keep it on the new roller so there is additional space in the locker and run the rode through it while anchored.
