For hanging my back cushions in the cockpit of my 26 I've been using the wide "industrial" Velcro brand velcro. Problem is than in this Texas sun the stickum gives out after one season. It gets real dry, the stuff starts to peel off, and its a bear to clean off the old stickum (that's southern for adhesive). Anyone have ideas on how to beat the system? Tom/Grapevine Lake, Texas

scews

Very small SS scews/washers and a light amount of caulking.

Explain

Steve Expand on that a little. Did you tack down the outer edge of the velcro with screws/washers every few inches?

YES

I put one "small" screw and washer in each corner of the vecro strip, used 4 velcro strips per side of the boat. Also made covers for the cushions out of sunbrella, since the white doesn't hold-up over time. This way I can change out the velcro as needed and wash the cushions etc... Good luck

Covers

Saw a Hunter owner that had made covers for the foam back-cushions, and put snaps on those covers and the cockpit back-rest area.

Thick cushions

The Bottomsider cushions are pretty thick. I wonder if there is any difficulty getting the snaps to take while pushing a thumb through that much foam.

Thomas - snaps

Thomas, Bottomsiders come with snaps that can be glued to the cushion. They are shipped that way so that the purchaser can locate them wherever they want the snap to be. The male end of the snap is glued to the cushion, then line up the female end and attach it to the receiving surface.

Not mine

I got my cushions year and a half ago. They only came with a few inches of velcro. Seems snaps stuck directly on the cushion would just end up pulling off a chunk of the foam. But I do like the idea of "bagging" the cushion in Sunbrella.
