Practical Sailor didn't really give it a good review. They said the thing was kind of noisy, vibrating resonances on the hull or some such. As I understand, the small vibrations are what keep growth off, so it makes no sense to me physically how anything can vibrate, and remain silent. And, it would have to be on 24/7 to be effective. In my experience, once under growth starts, it's katy-bar-the-door from then on.
Now as negative as all that sounded, I too would LOVE to see it work. It would negate the haul-out issue altogether for the exception of thru hull, and prop maintenance, maybe a short haul on occasion for inspection.
It sure would put a kink on bottom paint manufacturers, as it's a sure sell every year or two. But like others, I'm sure tired of the debate about the paint in the water. And it would shut up the state of california for a short bit as well..
