Two other resources for bottom Paint directions

Two part question, part two is paint selection, I've been thry the archives did the search and what I found was inconclusive (at least to me...) Lot of "I like this kind, I like that kind" and "this is resistant to barnacles" this let the algae grow", but what I want to know is of the different typs of finish's which is most appropriate for Fresh Water lakes, and a boat that will be stored on trailer...? I imagine a "hard" finish, not neccessarily a copper coating, anything else I should consider...?

First part of the question is on prep.. looking at the pics of my bottom it looks neglected...I'm assuming I need to sand all the reddish orange "paint" off and down to the glass hull, (greenish part under water line..?) Do I need to "prime" with anything or go direct to hull finish...? Or just feather out the lumps and bumps and re-cover it all..? Thing is I don't know what I have so it's hard to tell what will cover it...
Two other resources I have used, today in fact. Whatever else opinions may arise, West Marine website has a video explaining each type Bottom Paint, and their own brand plus that of Petit Paints. The video takes about 15 minutes altogether, but will provide a starting point, along with the "first person" suggestions from the other people in here. The other resource is JD Videos (Jamestown Distributers), a big chandlery in Rhode Island has many videos that anyone can watch for the price of the Internet Connection.

My personal favorite is Multi-Season Ablative, as I do keep my in the sea water for 5 - 6 months each year. The multi-season means I can haul my boat in late fall, and except for touch up, relaunch in the spring, and in theory no further bottom paint so long as the existing coat is in good condition. I use the West Marine PCA Gold with Irgarol (for slime).

The purpose of my photo is to show paint failure at some level. I don't know if this is Gel-Coat, Barrier Coat, or just plain FRP hull. The multiple layers of paint just plain seem to flake off in chunks. In a sense, we are in the same boat.
