Here I am again. We purchased a Cat27 in October 2001. The hull was scraped and painted with a VC17(?) paint in August,2001. It had a complete hull scrape and paint. Hull looks clean and smooth. My question is: (it was in the water from 18 Aug to 4 Oct only) should I paint it before launching this spring? Thanks. Jim

VC17

Hi Jim: My previous boat had VC-17 and was in the water from May 1 to OCT. 15 in Elk Rapids, Mi. I could go 2-3 years before repainting because of the cooler water in the North of Lake Michigan. Cool water = slow growth of "Stuff". If your bottom looks good now, go ahead and launch without painting and see how it does this year. Key point is to power wash as soon as boat is hauled out for the winter. Af far North as you are, you should have similar results as I did. Good luck Dave S/V Westwind

Should be fine

I'm lucky to be able to leave my boat in year round so don't have first hand experience but unless VC17 has some particular properties that don't allow for drying out (which I doubt), then you should be fine. LaDonna
