that seems a little strong when compaired to $45.00 per boat foot ....this includes haulout, pressure wash,bolcking....bottom prep is hand sanding, rolling two coats of premium paint...and cleaning the prop, strut, shaft and drive train inspection.....

I have an outboard, so none of the engine / prop shaft things need done, and I already prep sanded (with a vaccum sander) the hull before I found out they are going around and charging anyone they find has painted on their own.

the ONLY thing I need to do is roll on 2 coats of paint (which I already have).

The whole system is bass ackwards. You can buy all the Roundup (herbicide), rat poison and bug sprays you want in a hardware store and pollute your own yard (and neighbors) with no consequences. More volume of these land based pesticides are sold per year then anti-fouling paint yet there is little regulation of consumer based use of these poisons.

I'd think about ways of camouflaging my new bottom paint job so it looks like it is old. Find some almost empty black bottom paint cans and get some thinner and spray it so it looks blotchy and irregular. Maybe some white latex interior paint could be used to simulate the circular remains of barnacles too.
Got any water color paint sets? The brown or yellowish colors would simulate remaining slime that was not attended to.

Thank you.... that's the first time I've laughed while thinking about this... :)

If you want to hop the train to Pelham and bring the water color paints Saturday evening, I'll buy the beer!

I hate it so much i bring the boats home BUT that's wearing thin and you do have to realize every marina around here is under enormous pressure to turn into water front homes
