Can anyone recommend an inexpensive bottom paint (for my fiberglass fishing boat), and a good stain for exterior wood trim?

Hi Chris, If your fishing boat is in and out of

fresh water, why not try one of the waxes especially formulated for bottoms? If you do a search at one of the oneline chandleries, I'm sure you'll find one. For exterior wood trim on the same boat (?), why not try one of the protecting stains developed for outdoor deck use i.e., Cuprinol or Thompson's water seal? That will get you away from the constant mtainenance routine. Good luck!

if you trailer your boaot

If you trailer your boat don't paint the bottom with bottom paint, hard bottom paint becomes ineffective if you put it in the water then take it out and let it dry. Ablative paint would be the choice if you did but it too can't stay out of the water forever. Wax is the best thing you can do. If the bottom just needs painted just get a marine paint and paint then wax. If the wood you are speaking of is teak, a lot of people use cetol, I use marine varnish with lots of UV protection in it.
