Bottom paint

Has anyone painted their bottom recently? Just about all of you, I bet!!! How much paint do I need to buy to cover the bottom with 2 coats. I am using Micron CSC Extra. I haven't needed to do this for a couple of years. I know it takes more than a gallon, but West Marine says 2 gallons for 2 coats. I think I used 1 1/2 gal.

Any help out there?

Thanks.

Thanks for the paint formula! I now feel comfortable buying 1 gal. + 2 quarts!

Yes, that picture is of my parents in Pulpit Harbor during one of their many summer cruises. Their boat, "Privateer Chance", is now my "Spindrift". She has given the entire family many wonderful experiences sailing the New England waters , and even some off Corpus Christi, Texas, where my Mom lives! (My father lost a battle with cancer a few years ago.) Thanks for making the connection! Mom monitors this newsgroup, so she will be especially happy that you made the connection.

It is great to have this group of friendly sailors so easily accessible! Thanks again!

Your calculations for a Vega are right on. Two days ago I used a little
under three quarts of bottom paint for one coat. I used cheap soft paint,
which will be fine for Maine's clear cold water and shorter season, and a
short nap roller.

Dear Drusie,

I have used Micron CSC for years on my Vega. The amounts you used are
quite high. I used only 2 liters each season. I use a brush because I
believe this is more economical for the expensive bottom paint.
Happy sailing,

I just used 1 1/2 gallons of Super Shipbottom ablative paint, (see
their website)...I hope it is similar to Micron CSC, but cheaper. I
will monitor its effectiveness.

I got 2 coats, plus 1 more on high wear areas. Supposed to last
several seasons. $100 per gallon, including shipping.
