Do you know if the paint will react with the plastic over a winter?

I buy small metal paint cans from a local company, and use those for any leftovers so that i can have multiple 100% full containers, thereby preventing evaporation.

I wonder if I can use the plastic bottle as a storage container instead of the metal cans ?

I think a call to interlux is in order.
Yes, plastic will work fine as long as it has a decent lid. I had a container with a mediocre lid and leftover VC17 almost lasted a year

I’ve been using the same plastic condiment bottle for 20 years so no I don’t think there is a problem. I do empty the bottle back into the can when I’m done painting as the can seals tighter than does the bottle. But I do not clean the bottle. I just pour more paint in, shake it up and paint away.
I have also been using the same paint brush (for those areas where the roller can’t reach) and roller pan for over 20 years and I don’t clean either when I’m done painting. A few dips in the paint and the brush is ready to go. In fact, the roller can be used multiple years without cleaning as well.

Two quarts, especially for the first application, seems about right. My 25 footer took 1.5. You can save leftover paint if it's in a well sealed container. There's another thread about this same paint right that may provide some useful tips. VC17 is a strange paint

I have been able to cover my 34 ft full keel with 2 quarts every other year. My bottom coms out in the fall with a minimal amount of slime.
