Bottom Paint/Sanding

Ahoy, I have a new 2002 Hunter 260 purchased at the end of 2003. The boat has only been in a lake for 9 months. On the hard I wanted to have the bottom painted. the Marina want's to lightly sand the hull before painting. Hunter says thet sanding will void the 5 year hull warranty. I have checked the achives, lot's about painting, nothing on sanding. Someone, Please throw me a line...

the hull for two coats of ablative? What does the paint maker say to do before installing their paint? Terry

Just Did It

Just got my bottom done in Key Largo. The yard used the Interlux primer that requires no sanding. This option will cost you the extra $ for the special primer but then they don't have to sand so ask for a discount on the per foot cost of the work. I can't say how well it holds up yet since I've only had the boat in the water for a week. Hope this helps!PatS/V JibSea (H-260)
