Jacking Up the H216 on Venture Trailer
Hmmmm.... Lack of clarity is one of my strong points! ;-) I used a floor jack to jack up either the bow or stern. For the stern, my jack could not achieve the height desired so I "build" an elevated platform the jack could sit on. I had some really tall car ramps so I used those then placed plywood on top of the ramps. Next I placed the jack on the plywood. On top of the jack I placed a 3-4' long piece of 4x4 I had laying around. I placed a couple folded towels on top of the ends of the 4x4. The 4x4 went from port to starboard. For clarity, my structure consisted of car ramps, plywood, floor jack, 4x4 then towels. When I jacked up the jack, the towels contacted the hull first, one on the port side and one on the starboard side. As I continued to jack it up, the towels compressed but the 4x4 never contacted the hull in the center. That is, the boat weight was on the starboard towel and the port towel. This worked great and the boat was quite stable. The bow was a lot easier as I could place the floor jack on the ground. I placed a little chunk of wood on top of the jack then a folded towel on the wood so I didn't scratch the hull and jacked it up...pretty much like the bow rests on the bow trailer bunk.
