I bought a freshwater boat that is finally making it home. It has VC17 bottom paint. The only compatible paint appears to be VC17 Offshore. I am hesitant to remove all the bottom paint. Will I be able to tell if there is a barrier coat on the bottom, 1989 Catalina 30? Maybe the easiest thing is to just use the VC17 Offshore and forget removing all the bottom paint which would permit me to use any bottom paint?? thanks

Take a look..

... at the Interlux compatibility chart, see link. Looks like you have a number of options

According to chart

SAccording to the Interlux chart (previous link), you offshore is not compatible, only VC17 and VC17-Extra. This, besides shipping, has kept me from looking at fresh-water boats, though I do not think all freshwater boats use VC17.

Call Catalina

Call Catalina in California. Give them the HIN number and they can tell you exactly how it left the factory. If they can give you the engine serial number, surely they can tell you what type of bottom paint it had, unless of course, it was a dealer option. Catalina is very helpful.
