Have any of you noticed any change in Trinidad bottom paint, or I should say the performance of same. Have to boat out now to repair the rudder, and the Trinidad on it is pretty well done for. A little less than two years on this bottom job. I have always used Trinidad, and always managed to get three years out of it. Sort a disappointed. The guy at the marina says is probably their quality control, but that stuff is too expensive to be guessing about. Haven't checked other suppliers yet, but WM has Trinidad at 239 a gallon. Been thinking hard about using an ablative, and looking at Super Ship Bottom. Anyone have any experience with this brand. I talked to them on the phone, and the guys is saying that two coats will do three years. If it will, it is almost half the cost of Trinidad.

If you're looking for ideas, take a look at Ace Hardware on Pontchartrain. I bought some Duralux ablative paint, supposedly with 60% copper, for under $100 a gallon. I put it on the boat last year, and so far can't see any difference between it and the expensive stuff. YMMV.
