Bottom Paint over Fill Valve Question

Group, I'm having bottom paint applied for the first time on my 23.5 and was wondering what most have done with the ballast tank valve, sealing plate and gasket? Is it best to have this closed and then have the paint applied? Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes have it closed and paint outside. Former dealer who gave the plans for the 23.5 to Hunter. Second @Rick Webb

Sounds like the plan to have the valve closed and have the yard paint around it, do you need to take a razor knife and score the paint after it cures to allow the valve plate to operate freely? Thanks for the advice.

Small putty knife as it should do plastic if you can find one
