Jim:My dealer is Specialty Yachts of Vancouver B.C. and the rep is LawrenceFronczek. They are the local Hunter Rep. 604 - 689 - 7491 ext 720 . The painter was Keith from Blackline Marine the foremost reputation of bottom painters in our area. 604 656 6616.Keith didn't just say it happened only to Hunters. He also included Beneteau. The problem is my dealer did not dispute this. I just paid over $400 to have this done and it is flaking off so fast that it can't be doing any protection. What do I do? It would be really great if you looked into this farther for me. Call Lawrence, he just saw my boat at the Hunter Rendevous and as I said he did not dispute the comment. Of 29 boats at the Rendevous i only observed one other boat with a "flaking " problem. It was a 1997 33.5 and was just showing thru to the third undercoat.I have been advised that the solution is to sand down to the Gelcoat and then apply three coats of paint. This will then last as long as the other boats I see. This would void Hunters warranty. Even though I am out of the warranty period I don't want to do anything Hunter would not approve. So my question is: What do I do to get a bottom paint that won't flake off in big chunks and last a reasonable time. Thanks Ed Kill
