For those of you who keep your boats in fresh water - How often do you re-paint your bottoms? Thanks, Kenneth

bottom painting!

I almost never paint my bottom. I do, however, paint the bottom of my C22 yearly. I have a slip on a slow moving creek feeding into a shallow lake. There is a fair amount of "green stuff" on the bottom at the end of the season and therefore I have it power washed. Then in the spring I re-paint. I don't know how much good it does but it sure looks better

Annually

I apply a coat of VC17 every spring, in the fall I have very little of anything on the bottom and the powerwash remove most of the VC17, hence there is no buildup. The water in Collingwood is very clean, when I was in Lake Ontario, there would be a significant amount of slime in the fall, still only 1 coat a season did the trick and VC17 doesn't take long to apply. Sounds like and Ad for the stuff. Good Luck.

Bottom Paint

A light power wash and scrub with a soft brush cleans the hull in the fall. One coat of VC 17 in the spring has been enough to cover any bare/worn spots. No problems
