I just got a quote for sandblasting, barrier coat and applying 2-coats of antifouling paint. $20.00 a foot to sandblast. $50.00 a foot for barrier coat and antifouling paint. $ 470.00 to sandblast $1175.00 to paint $1645.00 estimated to redo the bottom. I think I will have to see how much renting a sandblaster and finding someway to lift her high enough off the trailer to refinish the bottom. Is this about normal pricing or am I being quoted a high price. I figured about 800-1000 max. There isn't many boat service places in OKC area. fafeagin1@home.com

Sounds high to me

Hi Last time I had my 23.5 done it was sanded, barrier coated and had Awlgrip bottom paint applied. it cost about $600.00 here in Virginia. Are you in California? May be the additional cost of the environmental requirements there. Even so...that sounds like a lot of money to me. Alan Long S/V Random Access

I Think All You Need is Paint

You only need a gallon ($150 tops)of paint, a couple of brushes and a roller to paint the thing yourself. I do not think there is any need for a barrier coat nor for sand blasting. Spend that money somwhere else.

Make the Trip to VA

For the diffrence in price you could hook the boat up and head out to Williamsburg have the boat done and your vacation paid for. If you go that rout you may want to think about Galveston or Corpus Christi. I would not pay what they are asking.

TOP $$$

Ouch! You must be at the Hinckley Yard. Maybe $20/ft to sandblast a boat with a 18' beam but not a H23.5. Unless something strange has happened or the original barrier coat was faulty, all you need is some more bottom paint. I just pressure wash every other year and brush on some more paint. Be sure to use a paint that's compatible with the old and will stand abraision of trailering. My cost is $50/yr.... to put it in perspective. The left over money goes for GPS and autopilot.
