I've pulled the boat for the season, the marina has power washed the bottom and it appears to be in excellent shape ... a few chips & dings here and there .. I'm not certain what to look for ..I don't see any signs of blistering ..Should I prepare to fill the chips and dings in the spring and if so what materials are recommended ...??? THANKS

yes

Yes! Prep the nicks and dings. Any nick in the gelcoat is a path for water to get behind the gelcoat and into the laminate to cause bigger problems later. There are alot of products out there. I suggest epoxy, due to it's supoerior adheasion when forming a secondary bond. A secondary bond is a bond that is formed after the resin has been cured for a period of time. A primary bond is formed as a boat is being laid-up during construction. I recommend that if you are going to do the work , pick up an inexpensive brochure on the "West System" epoxys. There is some basic things you need to understand and they do explain the basics and a good layout for a system of repairing the damage. I have tried to explain some repairs here before. Not only is there to much to type but I always assume that the person doing the repair has some basic knowledge of the systems. good luck r.w.landau

Rick, sign up!

Rick, Your question has been answered, but I want to put in a plug for the Owner Review page. I checked and you're not yet listed as an owner of a 272LE. There are many owners of 272's and 272LE's listed there as well as reviews of both boats. The list keeps on growing and the information we share in e-mail off the site is great. Hope you sign up and join us. Tom Ehmke
