I have seen some of the devices used to clean the algae and what all from the bottoms of boats before races etc. Do they work? and what is the names of some of the better products? Thanks.
I've tried a number of "devices" to get the bottom of my C25 clean. Nothing works very well. I always wind up resorting to a wetsuit and a scrubbie.Justin
The best way of getting the bottom clean and keeping dry is to get 2 people and a slab of carpet 1'-0" wide and 8 to 9 feet long. attach 2 lines to each end and start in the front of the boat. moving it back and forth as you go. you wont beable to get under the keel but 85% of the boat will be clean.
If you're looking to cruise and maintain most of that early season performance, then I agree with mckillip - the carpet trick works well.If you're racing, however, you need the keel cleaned or you can't point.
