Vickie, Sorry to hear that you have a roller furling main. This is one of the three big 'go slow' items for a boat, though it does make the sail easer to handle. Regarding your question, I suggest you use the spinker halyard or the topping lift [if it is internal to the boom]. Go to a backpacking outdoor store and purchase a climing harness. Much cheaper and you will be much more secure when up there in the thin air. Bruce
