Hello Fellow Bored, Winterized, Sailors, with graphic art experience...
I'd like to offer a challenge...with a reward, and hope this request offends no one. All are eligible. The first attached photo is a blank canvas showing the transom of my boat, the other is my first attempt at some artwork for my boat's name "Blow Me Away". We'll be renaming this craft in the spring, and I don't give a crap about nautical superstition, unless we eventually end up on the bottom of Cayuga Lake. If you can capture the images and doodle your impressions of an awesome graphic using only Blow Me Away, Ithaca, NY, with wind as the primary subject matter, you will win a $100.00 gift certificate to the marine supply shop of your choosing. No strings attached, but your artwork must be accepted and placed on the a$$ end of my boat.

SBO forum has no connection to this offer. This is simply an old guy in the upper tier of New York looking for a cool, and conversational, name to his boat. Please, nothing pornographic or suggestive. It's all about the wind. Place your proposed image(s) here on SBO and let the entire crew be the judge, although I have final decision...Wayne

I know it's all about wind, but I'm having a hard time not taking the name of your boat in a slightly ribald vein.

Maybe it's just me?

Dear JSG, it is just you...my very first approach to naming this boat was provided by a rum soaked best friend counterpart suggesting I should call the boat "Blow Me"! That wouldn't work. So here we are with the end result....

A thought... if you end up having to make that disclaimer every time you mention your boat's name, maybe it's time to re-think before its too late.

A boat's name is often a another person's first and lasting impression of the boat and owner, often without ever seeing it (like on VHF). I want people to think 'classy', not 'porn star'.

Off the top; A tribute to Dylan - "Blowin' in the Wind", or "The Answer my Friend.." Too long perhaps. Or maybe too dated?

I think the way you portray the name in the opening post is fine and not suggestive of anything else. The phrase "Blow me away" isn't remotely suggestive of "Blow me" anyway. People use that phase all the time without sexual innuendo.
That said, I've never been a fan of a phrase for a boat name. One word, multiple syllables is fine, sometimes 2 words is suitable, 3 words is a phrase or a sentence, not a name. But that's just me.

I know that this wasn't meant to be a boat name review but....... just can't resist.
How about "BLOWN AWAY" It's slightly shorter, no chance of it being misconstrewed to be crude and it's how you feel after a great day of sailing.

I actually like that!!! Thanks Ted...I believe I'm gonna go that route. The prize, however, comes with creating an appropriate graphic, perhaps in this instance, maybe just an awesome font.

Blow me away aboard Blown Away...

A boat in the channel I go out of: 'Breakin' Wind '. Always gets a laugh from my clients.

"Breakin' Wind" was already on my boat when I bought it. I didn't care for it initially but have gotten used to it and it has initiated many pleasant encounters at restaurant piers. Kids wouldn't let me change it anyway, previous owner said he had same issue with his kids!

To 'expel intestinal gas' just isn't something I would want to permanently display, I've seen worse tats at the gym though. Both stay with you. Gotta' admit, it will get the smiles :) I like the 'Blown away' idea. My $0.02
