Boot stripe

Hello everyone
Just getting my to do list for when the boat is untarped
And since I bought the boat, the boot stripe always bugged me, a little back story about that.
My boat has blue decks, blue canvass, white hull….
But the boot stripe is green?
I want to paint it blue, already have the paint, now my question is, do I just clean up and paint over the old stripe or do I need to remove the old stripe and start fresh?
If the later, how do you suggest I remove the old one?

Is it painted or a decal? If it is a decal applying heat with careful use of a flat blade will get most of it off. Acetone will then finish the job.

Unless the boat has been repainted, the boot stripe is probably gelcoat. If it is gelcoat, clean, degrease, sand and follow the instruction on the paint can. The last step is probably the most important.

Flag blue TotalBoat Wet edge, it's a one part poly, easy to use. You could start with the Total boat primer. You have a classic Bill Shaw designed Pearson 30? Built in Portsmouth RI? Treat her well, & I'm sure she'll bring you home safe.

Yes it is a Pearson 30, she is definitely a wonderful boat, has been neglected by the past PO’s
I am trying to get up in a very good condition , we both love her (the wife and I) we just want to tweak a few things on her to make her easier and give her better performance and comfort.
I think the stripe is painted, not 100% sure, when we un tarp her I will take pictures of the stripe

You can't put a two part paint over a one part paint but you can put a one part paint over a two part paint. So the answer to your question depend on what type of paint you already purchased and what is there now. If your present boot stripe is gelcoat then you can apply either type of paint.
