I own a 2005 44.7. The boot stripe, a dark metallic brown color needs replacement. Does anyone know where to obtain this type and color of tape? What about painting?

You should be able to get the strip directly from Beneteau parts. I replaced mine on a B43 and that's where I purchased it. I would not paint
You should be able to get striping tape from any of the major marine supply houses...
Maybe even an auto body supply houses would stock some widths. It shouldn't be necessary to go to Beneteau for it other than a last resort.
Another thought would be to check out an RV supply store, many RVs have some wider striping on them.

I have not yet received the striping tape but the folks at VinylStriping.com were very helpful, carry a line of sizes and colors, and are sending me samples. The website also has directions for applying the striping.
last spring I removed the tape and painted it on. It was not difficult to remove using a heat gun and the old tape left enough shadow to use it as a guideline for my masking tape. This spring I will simply touch-up the few scratches I have. I had been replacing tape for a few years, here and there and decided it would be easier to just paint it.
