I have a 1991 H42- the run to the stern shower is so long, that water pressure at the stern shower head is miserable, even with a new water pump fitted recently- can I fit another water pump into the supply line into the water line near the stern shower? I would also fit a power switch so it would only be switched on when needed/used?

Most likely the shower head valve is clogged. I have seen it on mine. Disassembly shower head or remove and see if you have good flow.

Maybe the shower head or even the value could be loaded up
with gunk of some kind, had this problem with hot water out
all faucets for hot water and inlets for hot water heater were
clogged.

Agree with other posters - look for a restriction as the most likely cause.

I know this one...

Ok..
On stern wash down showers there is a built in check valve. This is a law in the RV industry. The thinking was that if your shower hose fell into a vat of cow dung, it wouldn't contaminate your fw tanks
Pull the check Valve. Your pressure will double

Bingo! Look for a screen or even a kink in that waterline.. Heck our house is old and plumbed in 1/2". It has far longer runs than our boat and the pressure will still peel skin off your back. We can run two showers and the dishwasher at the same time even on 1/2"... It is not line length or diameter look for screens, debris or kinks....

what everyone said

Hi Eian,

I have encountered your problem a number of times. Sometimes it's because I've crammed stuff in the lazarette and it's kinked the hose, or because the hose kinks itself when it is stuffed back into the lazarette and pulled out again. Most often it's because the little bits of aluminum oxide from the tank have accumulated on the screen inside the shower handle. (It also happens with some frequency in my sink faucets). Very easily remedied.

P.S. I'm enjoying your South Pacific weather right now!!

Cheers,
Paul

If there are no leaks and no other fixtures on the pressure should be stable through the whole plumbing line. Like others have said, check for kinks, clogs and obstructions.

Stern shower

After checking for kinks or clogged screens or buildup of some kind also what
I did was the hose to me was kind of short and I guess from pulling it out and pulling on it it once kinked my hose and did break the fitting on the back of the unit.
What I did was go to ace hardware and get some stainless hose fitting about 2'
long and added it on to where the fitting broke and it fit just right with easy
matching plumbing threads and no leaks and works great with plenty more hose to wash off anything on stern with no tugging and plenty of easy room to put away.
