Has anyone added on of these in place of there topping lift? What are the benefits of not having topping lift? Are these easier to adjust while underway?

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
No topping Lift

I am sort of considering making an improvement on my boat that would allow me to remove the topping lift. If you aren't careful with the topping lift and adjust it the result will be a lot of chaffe on your mainsail!

Used a Boomkicker for past 10 years.

3 years on my Shark 24 one design (entire fleet has adopted them), and now 7 years on our G-26. Makes life so much easier (and safer) when reefing or dropping the main. Replaces the topping lift. Gives great sail shape when you need it. Rather than rave about what it does, I suggest you read the manufacturer's specs so you will totally understand what it does. They are available here (on sale) in the chandlery

I have a very long boom that is quite low

on the mast so I built a boom gallows. When I drop the sail for any reason the boom lands in a notch and doesn't have any tendency to thrash around.

Had Boomkicker On My Catalina 270

I thought it worked very well and was also easy to install, highly recommend.

Love our Boomkicker

We installed a Boomkicker in 2000 on our 1987 Hunter 31. Love it. Works great. We of course have a boom vang also.
